Your Keto/Carnivore Story
I am deeply afraid of dying from cancer. At one time I was a vegan and even tried doing raw for a little while.
I did the vegetarian thing for 3 years, and my wife’s mom was making turkey burgers one day, and I decided to give it a try.
I never looked back and was a meat eater again.
I always tried to eat healthy even though I was a sucker for my pasta and meat sauce, chocolate chip cookies, pizza, and chocolate cake.
I would blend up these crazy smoothies every day with healthy greens and fruits, and honey.
Still suffering from canker sores, allergies, asthma attacks, lots of pooping, and rising blood pressure.
I knew I was not supposed to be on blood pressure medicine but I had no way of reducing it.
I was getting these health newsletters once a month, along with some other spammy things about health.
One day I just decided to read one of the spammy things, and at the end of the letter a guy was talking about the amazing benefits of an animal-based diet.
I was very intrigued.
I started doing some research, and within a couple of days I started doing an animal-based diet with some avocado, cucumbers, and berries.
My wife thought I was nuts. We fought about it, but i told her it was my body and I will do with it what I want.
My Dad and stepmom thought I was nuts too. He is a medicine monger for blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
I was open with my friends about it from the beginning. I have tried to tell them the real story about cholesterol and fat, but most of them do not want to hear it or believe it.
I went for my first set of blood work after about 7 months and my A1C climbed to 6.
I was freaking out and went full carnivore after that.
My latest A1C was 5.6 and my blood pressure has been really good.
I cannot ever see going back to the MAD, SAD Diet.
I don’t really ever cheat except for an occasional piece of chocolate which is tiny, and i suck on it for a minute and then spit the bulk of it out.
I gave up alcohol and coffee as well.
So that is my story.
What is the best (or top 3) pieces of advice you could give someone starting their keto/carnivore health journey?
Give it at least 60 days to see how you feel.
You may want to ease into it by cutting one thing a week for a few weeks.
Do not be afraid of salt and fat and cholesterol numbers.
